As I foretold thee, I did start the new novel yesterday. Five pages then, another four so far today; if I can keep up an average of five a day, I'll have a draft in three months, more or less. Which would be ideal. And is of course impossible. I have been dreaming of the three-month novel for lo, these many moons. Moons of moons. Actually I'll be lucky to have a workable draft in six months. I'd settle for that, gladly.

Still, I've signed up for novel-in-90 again, and we will see what we will see.

In other news, I am clearing out the cupboard under the stairs. This is like the centre of the spiral, the core of the house; it is something of a black hole, and I entertain the notion that if I can clear it in a drain-clearing kind of way, then it will work kind of like a black hole or a drain, and suck a load of loose clutter into it, with benefits that can be felt all through the house. It's sort of Step One in the sort-your-life-out project, the thing that has to happen before anything else can happen, because every other move depends on this move first.

The boys are helping. Lots.

In other other news, lunch today is roasted carrot and butternut squash soup. Made with chicken stock and flavoured with mint and coriander but mostly mint, and served with a dash of cream. It is heating as we speak, and is intensely gorgeous.

I had carrot and coriander - the little leftovers from the vast quantity I made on Saturday for visitors. Fresh coriander ftw!

And again, I forget to say who I am...
