I use www.mail2web.com ... I've used them for years and have had no problems with them sending me spam or passing my details on to anyone else ... and they are free.
Whether you'll be able to remember enough details about your email account to be able to use it, I can't say, but it works for me (and I use them to check my email on my phone as well, using the phone's web browser)
