In this morning's (snailmail) post:

Ace is on the very verge of remaindering the mmp of Bridge of Dreams, so if you were thinking of picking up a copy, now would be the time to do it. Sigh.

But! An insurance company tried to screw me over last month, and I wrote to them to point this out. I may have been a little ... stern. And they have capitulated, instantly and entirely. Hee. I can haz stroppy-letter kreditz.

Also on the power of tongues, Barry is currently curled up immediately beneath this monitor which I am looking at (though you are not). He is washing, as a good boy does; which means his head is rising and falling, and every movement jostles the monitor, so I am reading what I type in a kind of vibratory fashion. I can haz see-sickness nao?

Mac's been like that with regard to slithering-under-the-duvet, these last early mornings. Not quite sure why, it's not conspicuously been colder than heretofore, but suddenly he just must find a way in, and snuggly flesh to snuggle to, at unearthly hours. Yay.

Ace are doing this why? It's a new book (and very good it is too). Plonkers.

Not new any more, it's been out a full year. Company policy: any book that's not selling X number of copies per month is remaindered automatically after twelve months. And X is not a moveable number, it's fixed across the range.

I discovered this when they published the Outremer books. Briefly...

I visit Angelsey to participate in the Amlwch Viking Festival (stand on a cliff by the sea in late evening darkness, wave a flaming torch and shout "Odin", burn a ship - great family fun!) every second year, and it's always been generally clear and nice. I think North Welsh Rain is a myth.

It tends to depend where in N Wales you are.

Can I come and play? Even without a family, that sounds fun...

To be allowed to play, you have to be a member of The Vikings (http://www.vikingsonline.org.uk), which I think you'd enjoy, but you're welcome to come and visit Amlch Viking Festival (http://www.amlwchvikingfestival.co.uk/) in 2010 and see us even if you aren't.

I *bought* a copy of that, and it got eaten by a shipping box. As indeed did most of the rest of the B section. Given the complete lack of house purchase in these parts, I may simply abandon hope of seeing it any time in the near future, and go and see if Waterstones still has those copies filed in the romance section.

*checks shelves* (because my memory of what I've read is gone the next day - lovely cognitive function damage nonsense, that)

Yep, I've got my copy. It's the Outremer series I couldn't find... (ended up 'here' via [livejournal.com profile] matociquala, hadn't known of your work before a year or two ago).

Hiya! I knew you were around, didn't know where you'd come from (that e-Bear has a lot to answer for...).

If you want to pursue the Outremer books, copies can be provided. Yay, even to the States. These things are possible...

But boo to cognitive function damage! I have it, but much less strongly; I can mostly remember what I've read (tho' I do tend to lose names and titles these days, which is a bugger). It's what I've written that I forget, and sometimes try to deny...

Sorry for the very belated reply...

(that e-Bear has a lot to answer for...)

Indeed she does. :)

*confesses* Am pursuing the "used books" option; am on very limited (disability) income. Last month was "no books and no beads", which really cramped my soul. This month, I'm having to choose between Nation and Chalice, or Seven for a Secret. (Pratchett always wins; will acquire the latest about Abigail Irene later, I hope.)

Also, you seem to share on of my less useful traits, the hating to make telephone calls. I'd love to figure out where that comes from, in me, to exorcise it. (Today I was full of virtupitude, and called the vet, the doctor, the pharmacy, and the local volunteer caregivers who will come vacuum and mop my floors. Meep. I still need to call IKEA about a couple of missing boards from the kitchen cart I got in June...)

It's what I've written that I forget, and sometimes try to deny...

Am I going straight to hell because I laughed? :)
