Bloody cat...

Now I'm really pissed off. He's been so good all summer long, in and out of the yard at whim; but now he's figured out how to go further, and as soon as I open the door he's over the wall and away. Which I wouldn't mind if it just meant exploring the neighbours' yards, but last night he was out in the alley which leads straight onto the main road, which has a terribly tempting park just on the other side, full of trees & birdies; I didn't get him in until he'd been down to stare at the traffic and think about it.

Basically, every time I let him out now it's like I'm handing him over to the vagaries of cars, dogs and other people. Put it another way, I'm not letting him out. But I really, really don't want to do this. He's desperate to be out there, yowling at the door, trying to dig under it. And of course I'm in and out myself, which makes both of us feel worse. Bleah. Bloody cat...

That we do; I bought him an extra-tall one with a Dangly Thing, and it is his joy. This does not stop him scratching the wallpaper when he chooses, nor trying to tunnel under the front door. There went all my draught-proofing. Sigh...
