Not getting any work done, so I thought I'd console myself by taking up another couple of fouls of the staircarpet. (The foul being a measure of carpet, approx one square metre of vile patterning and ancient colour. Think '70s landlord decor...)

So I did that and rolled it up around the rotting underlay, and carried it out for the binmen - and as I came back indoors, there was a tabby streak which was Mac shooting out through the closing door. I barely saw him, and really wasn't sure. Went back out immediately, tho', and there he was: luckily distracted by the dead leaves outside my door, and fit to be grabbed and wrangled back inside. Somehow I had slammed my finger in the door in my haste, so I have a bruised fingertip and a smeary catpaw-print on my jumper to show for it; right now, Himself is flailing all around the house like a mad thing, presumably to distract my attention from the tunnel Barry is undoubtedly digging beneath the wooden horse I haven't actually found yet. This is apparently the Chateau D'If, and it shall be escaped from...

We have springyness in the air here, and mine lurk at the door every time it is opened, hoping to slip out into the Wonderful Outside Place, perchance to catch one of the birds they can see out the window.

Yup, 'zackly that. There's a park across the road, which is full of birdies from the dawn chorus ("Chaz! Chaz! Wake up, the birdies are shouting!!") to Exciting Darkness. Sadly, the aforementioned road is full of cars, ditto ditto: which is why they're not allowed out. To everyone's distress, mine included. I s'pose I could move to the country, but even I might think that was a bit of an extravagant Mad-Catman gesture...
