Also, I forgot to say I was confronted with a quandary this morning: what to read? These last many weeks, my breakfast coffee has been happily shared with Aubrey and Maturin; but you can't read Patrick O'Brian for ever, there are only twenty books.

Happily, the solution was at hand. Well, many solutions were at hand, but top of the TBR was Kari Sperring's Living with Ghosts. Which I'm only a chapter into so far, and I may have more sensible things to say about it later, but so far I just want to coo and pet it. *pets*

Seriously, it's a joy. Spies and swords and courtly machinations, grace and beauty and ghosts; what is there, not to love? Plus an equally courtly, equally deadly hand with language. I am loving this.

I don't count the unfinished one, on account of, y'know, unfinished. Should I read it, d'you think?

You are a very bad influence.

After reading this, I went directly to Amazon.com, checked to see if Living with Ghosts was available for the Kindle, and downloaded it. Lead me not into temptation, darling, I can find it myself easily enough....

I haven't gotten that far - about three years ago I got through The Letter of Marque, but dropped reading it, as the whole was too much to just do in one long spell.

I started up again a few months back, at the beginning of the series, until, after the end of The Ionian Mission, i was just and tired of Obrian's writing style.

I'll pick it up again in a month or so, where I left off.

was just pointing out that that's available.

I really enjoyed it and am glad you are doing so too!

At Eastercon, I believe we have an opportunity to pet the author, and we should (totally) do that!

Me too. It's my current read. I'm about a quarter of the way in to it and loving it.
