For most of you, I gather, DW now stands for DreamWidth. Me, I hold a watching brief on that, all uncommitted: I have an OpenID account there just in case you-all disappear, no invite codes as yet, and I await developments.

Here and now, DW stands for Don't Wanna, of which I have a caseload.

I have - you will be pleased and delighted to hear - located my missing tax return. This means, I suppose, that I should do my taxes. Don't wanna.

If not that, then what? I could carry on sorting out the office, but don't wanna.

There's always work. Don't wanna.

I could do something in the garden. Even with knackered shoulders and buggered nerves, I'm sure I could do something in the garden, but don't wanna.

I had achieved being sat on by a cat, but then even Barry didn't wanna.

I could coin a new word - apathoplexy: that state of being so apathetic that it drives one into rage and self-disgust - but it's far too much effort.

I got nothin'.

Ah, why are we in opposite countries? Two don't-wannas probably cancel each other out, if we could only bring them together...

Unfortunately in this instance 2 negatives don't make a positive - this time it just builds up into a whole huge load of don't-wanna. In an effort to salve my conscience I'm tackling the desk and it's a way of avoiding doing other stuff. Anyway whilst on this desk adventure I came across a book I had bought after a conversation we had - then I forgot to tell you I'd got the book - The flâneur by Edmund White. I probably forgot 'cause it was well buried along with a book about decluttering - say no more.
Anyway I'm sitting on the floor as I type this - the cat (pip) is sitting on my chair which is in the hall. I'm sure there is something wrong with this situation but I just can't figure it out.
D.

I'm at work, with a hangover, looking out at the most beautiful day so far this year - *out there* - and boxes full of other people's tax returns to review. Boxes and boxes. With a Thursday deadline.

Don't wanna.

Ah, but at least you have a hangover. Which speaks to some fun yesterday. I have been too good for too long altogether...

This isn't helping, is it?

Sorry, but I am in "wanna" mode today - I'm about to head into town to drink keenly-priced champagne and eat yummy food with fabulous people. If I could transmit some of this bonhomie in your direction, I would.

Sod.

Go, enjoy: spare a brief thought for me, and so let schadenfreude sweeten your evening even more...

I only indulge in schadenfruede about those who deserve it.

Yeah, me too.

Ought to write up my latest review - don't wanna.
Could do something useful in the garden - don't wanna.

There must be something I actively want to do...

...perhaps I am morally obliged to complete my game of Civ IV?

Oh, almost certainly. Moral obligation is often oblique, I find.

Sigh. I'm a day late and a dollar short. What is Dreamwidth?

It's a sort of alternate-LJ (built on the same code, by some of the same people) which is non-corporate, promises no adverts, seems generally to be more in tune with the way people think around here. In closed beta at the moment (you can use your LJ log-in as an OpenID for limited access, full accounts are being distributed via an invite code), open beta from the end of this month.

Some people are definitely switching over; others are tending that way; a lot, I think, will cross-post (which DW apparently makes easy).

The front page is here (http://www.dreamwidth.org/), and if people think that's not a fair summary, no doubt they will pitch in below...

Oh, and we'd rather have you a dollar short than a head short; I'm glad you didn't need to cut it off, in pursuit of headache-freeness...

I has papers to mark. definitely don't wanna. I may sift out the ones I suspect of deserving As, evaluate them carefully, and give the rest a B+. I think everyone would be happy and it would be at least 85% accurate.
