One of the eternal verities*

You can always cut.
Sometimes it's past the point of reason and to the detriment of the work, sometimes less is just less - you can find yourself cutting those things that drove you to be a writer in the first place, the character-stuff and the insights and the language, without which what's the point? - but you can still do it, whether you should or not.
Today's lesson is that you can still cut even when your body is sobbing-weary and your mind is absent. Sit down with a text and a keyboard, and the underbrain apparently takes over. You wouldn't want to be generative, not in this state, but you can still hack and slay.
*Another is Verity-Ann, but you'll either know that already or you won't.
