desperanceNo, no, people. The subject line is not a summons to Unnatural Practices. It is a movie about roller derby, which I now know what that is, for I have seen a movie of it.
Before that we drank beer and went to the Baltic, which is a house of High Art: where sometimes I like to be impressed, and sometimes I like to mock, but not this time. This time I want to say that if you make a film of someone talking and then take the visuals away, that is what we call radio; and listening to it in the dark is what I do every night of my life, and I do not believe that to be art, in and of itself.
Also, alas, I am old and my eyes can't deal with that much neon messaging, so Jenny Holzer's work kinda flashed me by. Hey-ho.
So then we went to Oldfield's and ate fudz and drank more alcohols oh noes; and then we went to the Tyneside and wondered about what arty film to see and ended up with tickets to Whip It! instead. And had to pass an hour in the pub first, but hey-ho.
And then there was Whip It!, which has lots of roller derby and not too much boyfriend at all, and I really really liked it, 'k?
And then I came home, and am now for bed. Night-night.
