The other half of the story
Apr. 20th, 2010 03:11 pmWhat I forgot to say was, long years ago - about as many years as it is since the other half of this story started, since I thought of the titles - I was at a con and there was this doe-eyed teenager hanging around, and I kinda like teenagers so I talked to him a bit. And after that we used to bump into each other fairly regularly at cons, and were in touch occasionally outside fan events (I seem to remember offering him a little wisdom or some such for his thesis, and so forth).
And then young Jonathan metamorphosed into Jon and was gainfully employed by Rebellion, who published 2000AD; and soon he was to be found in the dealers' room behind a table, selling this line of books he was bringing out under their new imprint Abaddon; and just recently Rebellion bought the Solaris imprint from its parent company, and, well--
The boy Jon is now my editor. Chortle.
Also, it occurs to me that this is the first book contract I've signed with a UK publisher for, um, about twelve years? Something about prophets and honour and so forth, but it's good to be back.
