Linux help?

desperanceUm, people? My e-mail client - Evolution, in the totally standard Ubuntu set-up - has suddenly stopped sending or receiving e-mails. The option to send/receive is greyed out in every menu, and it just won't do its thing.
The internet connection - clearly: I am speaking to you! - is fine.
I don't know what to do now? (I have tried restarting and rebooting, and neither of these has any effect.)

brooksmoses. But bloody annoyed: if they're going to put in a switch that operates itself, they might at least flag it...
Also, tired now. I have sat up all night (with sterling assistance from Karen in California), seen my niece and her dogs onto their train, and walked home in the dawnlight. How long is it since I walked home in the dawnlight?
