Things I've never quite managed to say right

It's a sort of more complex version of l'esprit de l'escalier, where there are things that nobody has ever quite given me the opportunity to say, I'm still waiting for the perfect intro. This morning's contribution to the list, as I bang about the kitchen at 5am, is
