In which I have Eaten all my Books
Jan. 22nd, 2013 01:26 pmWell, there's one thing finished, one at least: I have now listed all my cookbooks at Eat Your Books. Excluding those that I couldn't list, because they lack ISBNs and there isn't a workaround for that yet, and also those whose ISBNs are not recognised by the system (which will on past record be sorted within the day: they're very quick to respond, which is one reason for the unreasonable love I feel for this site and those who run it), my numbers look like this:
Books listed: 601
Books already indexed on the site: 188 (which is way below the average hit-rate, but I do have an uncommon number of older or more obscure titles, as well as an uncommon number generally)
Results from those indexed titles: 44,533 recipes searchable by type, ingredient, ethnicity...
Hee. I could wish that more books were included, but we'll work on that; and meantime - well. This is just so cool. And it may have sunk a proportion of my time over the last week or so, but it will save time hereafter, I am sure. And expand my culinary repertoire, there is no doubt of that. Besides which, it's just so cool...
