...but my first dozen are poking their heads above the compost, right on time. They may be regretting it now, poor things, plucked out of the dark damp warmth of the airing cupboard ("Chaz, why is your airing cupboard damp?" "Because it's full of hatching chillies, obviously.") and set to shiver on windowsills. Behind double-glazed windows and they're still in propagators, but shivering none the less. If they had any imagination, it'd be Barry's interest that made them shiver more. I hold out small hope for their survival, once they come out into the open; but a man must try.
