The other good thing about yesterday, in among all the dross: I found a Chinese supermarket in walking distance. I DO NOT KNOW HOW IT CAN HAVE TAKEN ME THIS LONG. Except that one strip mall looks a lot like any other, and El Camino is pretty much all strip malls from San Jose to Atherton, and I am a creature of habit especially in my walking-routes and I just happen never to have walked that way on that side of the street, and anyway it's disguising itself as a seafood market only it really isn't, it's a full-blown Chinese supermarket (with Mexican vegetables, because everything around here has to have Mexican vegetables).

At last, an end to the pork-belly* supply-chain challenges! Also they sell pig's blood, so I might have to use that sometime. And uteri. Not apparently brains, though; that's a disappointment. Maybe I should ask.


*I have no idea why in the UK this is belly pork, but it is. Other cuts are not shoulder pork or leg pork, but belly is always belly pork. Even though I believe that technically it is from the side of the creature, rather than the actual belly. Over here, when it isn't called pork bellies, it's often called side.
