Barry just did a Mighty Jump. From the window-sill on the half-landing to the top landing in one soaring leap, completely overleaping the second flight of stairs. I do realise that those of you who are not familiar with my house will not benefit much from this description; if I could find my tape measure I could measure it, but I can't, so I can't. Be content with the knowledge, then, that it was Mighty.

He was being harassed, of course. Mac had chased him up from downstairs; the windowsill on the half-landing is one of his refuges, because it's high and mostly defensible. But he doesn't really like being cornered, and (I think) he saw me on the top landing as an escape-route of sorts. And so he flew, 'way over Mac's head. Except then the little bugger came racing upstairs after him, so poor Baz got chased all around the office. You know that game kids play, making their way around a room without touching the floor? The cats do that all the time, in hot pursuit, scattering books and papers and breakables as they go. Snarl...

...and I don't suppose he actually did tuck his little paws in as he flew, to increase his resemblance to a fluffy cannonball, but that was what it looked like from the front...
