See how you can't really see, how very much he is sprawled across my scribbled manuscript? Well, when he's sprawled like that across my scribbled manuscript, I can't really see it either.

And of course all this feline assistance is nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that he thinks it's teatime, and wouldn't like that fact to slip my mind, oh no...

Poor thing, he's so handsome--it would be a crime to starve such a fine-whiskered, bee-yoo-tee-ful cat. Surely feeding the cat his tea is more important than editing that manuscript.

My little pests have figured out how to get into the kibble storage container. I suppose my next step will have to something that requires opposable thumbs.

I am not looking forward to boning out the pork shoulders I braised over the weekend. I can count on wearing cat anklets, at the very least until that task is done this evening.

a) Oh, he's Gorgeous!!!

b) why do they ALWAYS sit on what you're reading? Or alternatively, right in front of the computer screen, ready to play Catch the Cursor?

(b) It's the Position of Maximum Interest; of course they're drawn to it, it's their native habitat. There's a genetic flaw in us, that sometimes we seem to find it elsewhere than where they are: a flaw they can only correct by moving, to set themselves firmly where they belong.

Oh, and

(a) Yup, he is.

Questions I'd like to ask:

Do you really have a box marked 'royalties'?

Does it contain (and how much of each!) royalty or coins of the realm?

Or is it just a reference to the royal person in the foreground?

Royal schmoyal. He's imperial. Do imperial coins come from the Mint Imperial?

I really do. Alas, it's a misnomer: it should read "Royalty statements". Which, as we know, always say "Total owing: £0.00". (I was just being thrifty with my ink, on account of those selfsame zeroes...)
