I have a letter to post, and Barry's asleep on my stamps. Well, on my desk, atop the heap of papers that must somewhere contain my stamps.

Would it be ridiculous to go out and buy new stamps? The old ones will still be good for later use, after all; and if I go to the post office for them, I can post the letter at the same time, and...

What are a few stamps, in the face of His Darklordship's comfort and contenetment? Really, I'm surprised you need to ask.

Didn't the Prophet Mohammed cut off his sleeve because he wanted to move and his cat was sleeping in it? I'm sure it's worth a few stamps to found your own major religion.

The Chinese tell the same story of the Emperor Ai, who cut off his sleeve sooner than disturb Dong Xian, who was sleeping on it; a coded expression for homosexuality is still "the passion of the cut sleeve". Which-all I learned from [livejournal.com profile] la_marquise_de, who lent me a book...

And while you're at it, you could get out the vacuum cleaner and vacuum Barry as he sleeps so that you collect his loose fur before he manages to shed it all over the furniture. :-)

No, no! Noooooo! Poor Baz is terrified of the vacuum. As opposed to Mac, who regards it with unabashed interest and absolutely declines to get out of its way. Even at the cost of having his tail hoovered up.

Clearly, this is not a question one would ask in the US. Whyfor? Whyfor is that in all likelihood, the stamps under the cat would not be sufficient by the time the cat finishes his nap. So the Post Awful now issues "Forever Stamps," that just say "first class postage," whatever that might be on that particular day. There's a big market for 1 and 2-cent stamps, too.

We also have "First Class" and "Second Class" stamps these days, tho' to be fair, the price rises only occasionally (and is still national news when it does, because it is still after all the Royal Mail).

My Persian took a liking to my desk chair some time ago. Sadly, I did not have the heart to move him and spent a lot of time on my knees before my desk, typing, surfing the internet, etc, all the while being laughed at by my wife.

Fortunately, I have weaned him off my chair and he now has his own chair that no one else sits in.

Snigger. I used to be necessarily ruthless with the girls, who would sit on my knees (one each) wherever I happened to be until I stood up, then bounce back together into the nice warm vacated chair. When I came back, I used to scoop them up, sit down and plonk them back in my lap. Happy sighs, curlings up, snuggles...

I adore my boys, obviously, but sometimes I do miss the girls; they were so easy...

Oh. I'm too late, I see. Beat to the punch. I was going to suggest with my customary diplomacy, to bump the stupid furbag off the desk. It's okay: it'll easily find another place to snooze in. I like cats but come ON!

But he always looks adorable, by definition! Observe icon!

Just, when he's sleeping, he is especially adorable...
