This house is something like a ghost house

Every now and then, something truly weird happens. I leave, as it might be, the downstairs, to come up and have a bath and do a little worky stuff before bed. Leaving the downstairs involves turning all the lights off, and while the bath runs I tend to check the e-mail in the office and then of course go into the bedroom for my bathrobe - and it's about that time that it suddenly dawns on me, I've basically been through the whole house and seen hide nor hair of the cats.

And haven't seen them for the last several hours, either.

Anyone would think I was alone.

Shriek!

But then I remember that it's that time of year: the temperature has changed, and the boys have to find Other Places to Be. They try 'em out: beneath a pedestal of Chaz'z kneehole desk? On the bag he dumped on the laundry basket he doesn't use? In the recycling box, p'raps...?

I usually manage not to go looking, and they usually do show up. But it's very odd while it lasts.
