I have written five pages, and am much inclined to cry "That is enough!" and, oh, I don't know, go somewhere else and do something different.

But. I don't need to cook, I has bigos; and I can't settle down for the evening, as I am going out later, to meet up with friends and then be sung at in the grand manner, in candlelight, by the Russian Patriarchate Choir. Till midnight, I am hoping. I anticipate growling bass-lines and a shiver down the spine: I am uniquely susceptible to this kind of singing.

So, as I have another three hours before I need to leave, I really might as well open another bottle and carry on a bit longer. Find out just what these guys plan to do to those guys, in the shadows beneath the bridge, because, y'know. Right now? Haven't a clue.

Ooh, choir sounds good. And yay five pages. I've finished a chapter and now just hsve to remember what I thought was due to happen next. (this will learn me to alternate viewpoints. How do you do it, Oh Great Guru of Up North? It is driving me nuts.)

How do I do it? I drive myself nuts, obviously. Or, more often these days, I just have no idea what's due to happen next, because I don't even know who's up next to tell us about it. Simple alternation is easy; try five or six viewpoints. Or a dozen. With different stories ongoing in different locations, with an implied obligation to bring them all together at the end. That's always fun...

LWG is multiple v/p, and there are sometimes several v/ps in any given chapter (but only one per scene, that being a Kari thing). But with Grass King I went and tied myself to a one chapter, one viewpoint structure (as you have in Bridge of Dreams) with the net result that I am always on the back foot with each new chapter, as I'm coming out of a different place. It get worse, too, as it has inter-capitular sections (which have ended up being numbered as chapters as Word couldn't cope) which are from various different v/ps *and* some of which are flashbacks. Headdesk, and next time I'm going back to multiple v/p at will.
