Hmmph. John Lewis has an HP desktop reduced from £600 to £380. AMD Phenom, 4 gigs of memory, a terabyte of hard drive. Stuff.

I don't need a new computer - unless my current one falls over or blows up again, at which point obviously I do. At which point I could be kicking myself for not snatching this while it was there. I'm sure it's an obsolete model, etc etc, but even so. £380? And a two-year warranty...

You don't need it. There will always be computer bargains and they get fancier every year. You need good wine and good food, books and cats and swords and Johnny Depp.
