Oh, fukkit.

I can equate ... nothing with nothing.
More specifically, I can find nothing.
Okay, I know half the office is still in chaos; a normal person would peer in here from the door and be appalled. Nevertheless. I cannot find what I should have been most careful with: what I tried to be most careful with. The camera, f'rexample, and the tax documentation. In both instances, I remember walking around the unreconstructed room thinking "Now, where shall I put this, where's safe...?"
Wherever safe is, I can't find it. Nor the boxes that I know to exist, full of stuff that needs sorting. How can whole boxes of stuff disappear?
Also, I have just shouted at the cats and chased them out, after they knocked things deliberately off shelves one time too often. I have built a barricade to keep them out.
They are scratching at the door, with intent. They think it's teatime, and they are right. Ergo I can't actually hide in here for ever, they could just be patient and wait, but that's not their style.
Aaargh. I hate the world, just now.

Date: 2009-04-24 05:48 pm (UTC)I can find the camera, but not the card-reader and the extra card.
Also, there are felines here who are determined to rearrange everything, to climb everything, to burrow under eveeything, race about everywhere, and see to it that there is nothing that I do, nothing at all, which is done with at least some feline supervision. (What they must say to each other: "OK, I'm done with my Watching-the-monkey-in-the-bathtub shift; who's up next?" "Oh, I'll go do mine now, then Jemmy can get her after that, up to the time she gets out and goes into the living room, and then it'll be time for the kitchen escort. Who's up for that?")
I have taken to inserting pieces of anti-slip cupboard liners between the books on the coffee table so the little devils won't keep knocking them onto the floor when they leap from one spot to another.
Good luck with the paperwork, and the camera, and the rest of it.

Date: 2009-04-24 08:49 pm (UTC)Welcome to the club. I know I can't have lost my cell phone. It's here, somewhere. But it's been missing for two weeks, now. In spite of brutal raids on likely places "where's safe", it keeps eluding searches.
And if there was only the phone to worry about... There's just too much stuff. It may be time to clean up, maybe even to throw away.
Only I know I won't, I can't...

Date: 2009-04-24 09:13 pm (UTC)You wound me to the quick!
Of course, I did. I even tried it. But, of course, the battery was running low, and besides I don't believe in having to endure annoying rings, so I've set it to buzzer. I did somewhat hope to mark it by the pile of books that would shiver and crumble on the horizon, but no, no such luck...
