If a job's worth doing, it's just worth doing, yes? Quality doesn't come into it. If you can't do it well, do it badly.

If you can't do it at all, find something else.

I may not be able to work, but I can at least do manual labour. I can get down on my hands and knees and scrub. Spring-cleaning! I am an inverse of Mole.

Also, I have come downstairs the latter few mornings to find the freezer door standing wide. I do not believe this was happenstance, or my own carelessness. His young lordship, I believe, has remembered how to scrabble it open. It's just unfortunate that his little head can't hold more than one memory at once, so he consistently fails to remember that there's no point in scrabbling it open, everything inside is cold and hard and nasty.

So. My electricity leaks out, and frost rushes in, and the drawers clag up, and and and.

So this afternoon I am defrosting and cleaning out my fridge and freezer. Right now all their contents are spread about the kitchen, while steaming saucepans of boiled water inhabit the white goods, to help with the defrosting process. I inhabit the fond notion that there is so much food suddenly accessible, the cats will touch none of it.

Why yes, I can hear you laughing. Even from here.

I have also thrown out a quantity of old bad stuffs from the back of the fridge and the bottom of the freezer. This does still leave me with a number of frozen Things that I had either entirely forgotten - who knew, that I had a whole frozen octopus in there? - or simply cannot identify despite taking the lids off and peering within. (I never did learn the fine art of labelling.) As a matter of curiosity/policy, I am going to defrost those in strict order and either eat 'em or chuck 'em away, depending. And then I will have lots of room for new stuffs. And/or move to California.

Talking of achievable goals, have you voted yet? How many times, from how many browsers in how many machines? I appear to be losing, and there's only one day left. C'mon, we can do this. Save the tiger!

Today, the white goods; tomorrow, my desk. Clear, chuck, shred. *nods*
