Black soup

desperanceI have made black soup for my lunch.
Unsurprisingly, it consists largely of mushrooms: big field mushrooms, stewed largely in their own dark juices. I did add carrots and celery, but those have had little effect. I might have added cream, but then I would have grey soup, and, y'know. Black is the colour.
I ought probably to take a photograph, for posterity; but it's downstairs and I'm not, and I'm not allowed to go until I finish this chapter. Just imagine a seething tar-pit; that's close enough.
Meanwhile, here are the boys: each in their separate window, because, y'know. Détente only goes so far, and does not at all extend to sharing sunshine. Which is of course why I can no longer grow chillies like the ones in my icon, because, y'know. Windows are for cats, apparently, not chilli plants.
